Red rings of death, scary right? Well, if you are a gamer then you can probably relate to this since most Xbox nowadays are experiencing the 3 red rings of death. Man, I just can’t imagine hearing the constant reminder from my console that I need to fix Xbox 360 RROD. Well, to tell you honestly many tried to fix it themselves and most of them failed miserably because they don’t have the right information. Some gamers are foolish enough to follow some tricks like using the towel or the hair drier hoping that it will work. But trust me on this, those methods are doing more harm than good, and the worst part of it is that it will permanently damage your Xbox.

Some people who didn’t fall for cheap tricks think that all they need to do to fix Xbox 360 RROD is replace some parts of their console with new parts. They think that the Xbox 360 red rings of death is caused by bad parts which is not always the case because 95% of the consoles with this problem doesn’t need new part but only needs simple fixing. And if you send your console back to Microsoft and let them fix it you would have to wait for 6-8 weeks for it to return.

So what should you do to get rid of this Xbox 360 3 red lights? Simple, just follow the steps below and your gaming console will be as good as new. And all you have to do is find an Xbox 360 video and audio guide and you will be set to fix it.

The first thing to do is to remove the faceplate together with all the outer plastic shell. Next is to remove the DVD drive together with the fans and disk drives, lastly find the motherboard and remove it too.

When you have the motherboard turn it over and find the x-clamps at the back and disconnect it. In place of the x-clamps, put two nylon washers on the screw which connects the x-clamps to the motherboard then screw back down but not too tightly so that it won’t vibrate much.

Locate the heat-sink then lift it and place two nylon washer over the holes and re-place the heat-sink then add two more nylon washers on each screw before re-placing it. Doing so will keep the motherboard cool because the heat-sink can now take in more heat.

Get rubbing alcohol and clean the CPU and GPU until it looks clean then apply a little arctic silver compound and heat it using a heat gun for about 30-40 seconds and leave it to cool and 20 minutes more to let it set.

And lastly reconnect everything that you’ve disconnected including the cables then turn it on. After you switch it on you will see all four red light errors then switch it off, after 10-15 minutes have passed switch it on again for the last time and all you will see are green lights and no more Xbox 360 3 red lights.

This will take you about 60 minutes to do it. It may take much longer time than what you have expected but it pays knowing that you won’t see those dreaded lights again.
